Well it still hasn't quite sunk in yet. Lauren called me today and invited me to February Team Training at the end of which I'll come home with my dog. She called me on Thursday to see if I was available (of course!), but said I'd have to wait until December 27th to find out if my [dream] dog was still available. I do have 707 on my caller id, so I'm pretty sure I didn't dream it. But it sure feels like a dream to me. I feel incredibly blessed.
I'm surrounded by beautiful photos of dogs, thanks to kind CCI folks. It's hard to believe Dream Dog is waiting in the Santa Rosa campus right now. I already know Dream Dog can't mind my awkward jerky movements or I will go home empty-handed. But I also hope Dream Dog loves my small kids who give huge hugs, and will listen to stories read awkardly, because I plan on taking him or her to my daughter's school to be to read to by children who unlike my daughter are shy about reading. And I also hope he or she will like to play catch with the kids on "release" even after picking up all kinds of stuff for me. I hope Dream Dog likes walks. My kids will grow up, but I hope Dream Dog will be forever young at heart.
